Agricultural initiatives

Kayode Fayemi's administration in Ekiti State implemented several agricultural initiatives aimed at promoting agricultural development and food security in the state. Some of these initiatives include:

• Agriculture Value Chain Development: The Fayemi administration established an agriculture value chain development program to support farmers across the state. The program included provision of improved seedlings, training in modern farming techniques, and establishment of processing centers to add value to farm produce.
• Ekiti State FADAMA III Project: This project was implemented in collaboration with the World Bank to provide support to smallholder farmers in the state. The project focused on improving agricultural productivity and profitability by providing farmers with access to improved technologies, markets, and financial services.
• Youth Commercial Agriculture Development Programme (YCAD): This program was aimed at promoting youth participation in agriculture by providing them with training, mentorship, and access to financing. The program focused on providing support to young people who were interested in agriculture and encouraging them to see it as a viable business venture.
• Ekiti Agro-Allied Industry: The Fayemi administration established an agro-allied industry in the state to promote value addition to agricultural products. The industry included a cassava processing plant, a rice mill, and a fruit juice factory.

 

These initiatives were aimed at promoting agricultural development in Ekiti State and ensuring that farmers had access to the necessary support to increase productivity and profitability. The agricultural initiatives of the Fayemi administration also had the potential to create employment opportunities, reduce poverty, and enhance food security in the state.
