As the Minister of Mines and Steel Development from 2015 to 2018, Kayode Fayemi also engaged in several public events and activities. Some of his notable engagements include:
- National Council on Mining and Mineral Resources Development: As Minister, Fayemi chaired the National Council on Mining and Mineral Resources Development, which is the highest decision-making body on mining and mineral resources in Nigeria. The Council held its annual meetings to discuss and develop strategies for the sustainable development of the mining sector.
- International Mining Conference and Exhibition: Fayemi was a regular speaker and participant at international mining conferences and exhibitions, such as the annual Mining Indaba Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, and the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Convention in Toronto, Canada. He used these platforms to promote Nigeria's mining sector and attract foreign investment.
- Visit to Mining Sites: Fayemi also went on tours and visits to mining sites in different parts of Nigeria to assess the conditions and identify areas where the government could intervene to improve mining practices, boost production and increase revenue for the country.
